The story is about a woman, Claire, in her late twenties. She was misused by her fiancée of five years, Amy, who capitalized on their personal brand of kink to make money on the internet. When Claire discovers this, she leaves the relationship, taking her half, and goes to her folks. Something happens during this time, it’s not immediately clear what, and we next find her on a vineyard she owns (some of the early story transitions could have been smoother, I will say that). After one particularly long day working the vineyard, Claire goes to town to get a quick burger and runs into a young woman, Zoe, traveling from Canada. The story unfolds from there.I liked this book. Some of the reviews I’ve read are a little hard. The circumstance of these women meeting might seem a little far fetched but the suspension of disbelief is what makes most lesfic work, so just go with it. This story has an element of kink to it but it’s soft, I was expecting more from the look of the cover art (there are two book covers, one with a grassy field and the other with two scantily clad babes on it) but after reading the first few pages, I was not necessarily looking forward to anymore of their kink. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised by a sweet love story (conversely, I’m sure those looking for the kink implied on the two babe cover were sorely disappointed, lol).I loved the setting. New Zealand is intriguing and I love reading books written about New Zealand and Australia. Some detail referring to tourist sites were made but not a lot of landscape description was given. The author did give some phrases used in New Zealand with the Canadian/American usage that were fun to read.Did you know that New Zealand is often mistakenly left off of modern world maps? What kind of cartographer makes a mistake like that?
